Mindful Self-compassion

The Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) program is an 8-week course for adults, created by Kristin Neff and Chris Germer. Participants learn to befriend themselves, be kind to themselves in difficult moments and become fully present to their lives.

The Making Friends with Yourself Programme

Making Friends with Yourself (MFY) was developed by Lorraine Hobbs and Karen Bluth. It is an evidence-based programme adapted from the adult Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) programme developed by Chris Germer and Kristin Neff. Research on MFY has found reductions in symptoms of depression and anxiety as well as perceived stress.

The course consists of 8 weekly sessions (1h 45min each). Each session involves a mixture of meditation practice, informal exercises, discussions, art activities and mindful movement. Teens learn to cultivate mindfulness and self-compassion skills to help navigate social comparison, self-criticism and difficult emotions. Teens are also given home practices to deepen their experience.
